Sheet 12 of 12
Final Project: A Small Enclosure from Sketch to DXF
In 10 minutes you'll put the whole course together: a small vented enclosure with four walls, round corner reliefs, a hem, a cable hole and a perforation, ending with the DXF and bend table for the shop.

OP 20Turn the part
Drag to turn, scroll or pinch to zoom. Flat shows the blank before it is bent: the same sheet, the same frame.
OP 30Build it in SolidCraft
Your task
Build this small vented enclosure in SolidCraft 0.21:
- Make the rule Steel 1mm: thickness 1 mm, bend radius 1 mm, K-factor 0.4, active.
- Sketch a 100 × 70 mm rectangle on XY, corner at the origin, and finish the sketch.
- Flange on the sketch to make the base.
- Flange on all four edges in one go: height 30 mm, angle 90°; under Advanced, Corner Relief Shape Round, Corner Relief 4 mm.
- Hem on the top edge of the front wall (the long wall at Y = 0): Length 6 mm, Gap empty.
- Unfold. New Sketch on the flat base, a circle of 12 mm diameter at (50, 85) (that's on the back wall). Finish the sketch, Extrude it as a Cut through the sheet, then Refold.
- Press S and run
sheet.perforate {"diameter": "4 mm", "pitch": "10 mm"}. - Open Flat Pattern (Sheet Metal tab › Flat) and write down the flat size and the number of bends.
- Press Export DXF… and Export Bend Table… and save both files.
What to write down
- Both numbers of the flat size (the Flat size row; the third number is the thickness).
- The number of bends (the Bends row).
- The allowance of the hem's bend: the
allowance_mmcolumn of the bend table, in the row with angle 180.
Type them below and press Check. If your hem folds inwards instead of outwards, the numbers are the same.
OP 40Inspect
Enter what SolidCraft shows you. Each value is checked against SolidCraft's own result, within the tolerance shown. Nothing you type leaves this page.

OP 50Quiz
Q1You want round reliefs at all four corners of the box. What do you do?
Corners are closed and relieved between the flanges of one feature, so pick all four edges in one Flange and choose Round under Advanced.
Q2Why Unfold before drawing the cable hole?
Unfolded, the back wall lies flat beside the base, so you sketch the circle there, cut it, and Refold carries the hole up with the wall.
Q3The hem's bend in the bend table has which angle?
A hem folds the edge right back onto the wall, so its bend is 180°.
Every value is within tolerance. This sheet is done.
